TOM HUMBLE Tom reaches his 100th on 28th September. Toms’ early life started in Mesopotamia Afghanistan as we know it now (He relates many interesting stories; some would make your toes curl) his Father was in the RFC seemingly keeping Communists at bay? Then an education at Beaumont College (owing to his Fathers constant postings) near Winsor he recalls lining the streets of Winsor for royal funerals and other events. He also recalls seeing seeing the now Queen and her sister riding in Great Winsor Park. From there he went to the wilds of Northumberland to work on a relative’s hill farm he recalls the sheep used to love him reciting Latin and ancient Greek. It was there he met his future wife who was sent there with the land Army. Tom moved to Bletchley in earl 1953 when the farm in Northumberland was taken over by open cast coaling, and was forced to move south with his family to manage Tattenhoe Hall Farm for an Oswald Blount. Another move with the compulsory purchase by MKDC to build a new city. He did many jobs finding difficult to settle and eventually till his retirement worked at Barclays Stationary. After retirement he found the family of St. Giles church at Howe Park now a thriving place of worship unlike when he would walk from the farm for Harvest Festivals in the 50s. He became very much involved in its being. Tom led a very Active life in retirement loved walking and nature until late 2020 after a fall and sadly oncoming dementia he has been at Parkland Rest Home Woolstone . Tom has a son daughter in law four grandchildren and six great grandchildren four who are now in Australia. He still has a very dry sense of humour which can be sharp and to the point at times.
